Tripura to start three star hotel in PPP model soon

Agartala, Jul 31, 2012 : Tripura Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) has resolved to start a new three-star hotel in association with Indian Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) in the state, ICA Minister Anil Sarkar said on Monday.

Speaking to reporters at the civil secretariat here this afternoon, the minister said that TTDC has signed an initial memorandum of understanding (MOU) with ITDC. The state government would have a 49% share in running the hotel while ITDC would be having a 51 percent share in the business.

The project scheduled to be run in Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model would be set up at the present location of Hotel Rajarshi. Sarkar also said that the government has got plans to develop the hotel to four and five star categories in the long run. It is expected to start functioning under the nomenclature – Tripura Ashok Hotel Corporation Private Limited (TAHCPL).

The minister said that 21 projects based on tourism out of 32 sanctioned for the state are currently being implemented; two have been completed in the meanwhile. A total amount of Rs. 89.76 crores is involved in the projects. Out of this Rs. 66.10 crores have already been sanctioned for the state.
