Samhati Club to celebrate foundation day in big ways

Agartala, Aug 07, 2012 : Samhati Club, an elite social organisation of Krishnanagar in Agartala city will host mega social activities on 15th August at 10.30 AM at club premises to observe its 66th foundation day. Various citizens of the city will take part on that blood, body & eye donations and inauguration of ambulance services programme.

Swamy Hitakamanandaji Maharaj. Secretary of Ramakrishna Math and Mission, Tripura state unit will inaugurate the blood, body & eye donations programme followed by MLA Surajit Dutta will inaugurate the club ambulance service which is donating by him from Bidhayak Elaka Unnayan Programme (BEUP). Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, MLA Sudip Roy Barman, AMC councillors Phulan Bhattacharjee and Indrani Chakraborty will also present on that programme.

In yesteryears, the club was fulfilled various social commitments to the citizens of the city since its inception in 15th August, 1947.

In sports, Samhati, an elite cricket club of the city affiliated by Tripura Cricket Association(TCA) achieved the championship in prestigious Jogesh Chandra Chakraborty memorial tournament in 2011-2012 season. The club also got the runners-up trophies in Samiran Chakraborty memorial 'Twenty20' and Tapan memorial knock-out tournaments. It ranked third in the Bipul Majumder memorial super division tournament in the same season. 

Many cricketers from this club performed well in various national cricket tournaments from Tripura organised by Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) including Ranji trophy. 

This year the club is going to create history in the country making biggest ‘DURGA IDOL’ in coming ‘Sharadiya festival’ on October this year. Rabindranath Paul, Narayan Ghosh & troop of Chandannagar in West Bengal are busy for creating the idol from two months. The pandal is decorating by Ashit Roy & troop from Nabadwip in West Bengal.

Club secretary Dipak Majumder also informed in a press meet held on Monday last that they will donate cloths and garments among the children and people from poorer sections in the 'Sharadiya' festival like previous years.
