Rail project review: NFR team arrive

Agartala, Jul 30, 2012 : A three-member panel of Northeast Frontier Railway and Container Corporation of India Limited (CONCOR) arrived in the capital city of Agartala to supervise the implementation of ongoing railway project.

The team comprises Chief Vigilance Officer K Rajeswar Rao of CONCOR, Anil Kumar Gupta, Managing Director of CONCOR and an official of the strategic planning division of the corporation will visit several sites along with officials of state government for the project implementing the rail network in the state.

Soon after arrival in the city, the team visited Agartala Railway station and monitored the passenger service facilities, ticketing systems, infrastructures etc.

During their visit to the project site, they are slated to verify the detailed technical specifications of the ongoing construction works.

The team will also hold a review meeting with the local wing of NFR.

The team will meet Chief Minister Manik Sarkar and apprise him of the current situation. They are slated to meet Transport Minister Manik Dey and concerned officials of the state government.

Meanwhile, the ongoing Agartala-Sabroom railway project is getting delayed due to slow construction works and land acquisition process.

However, NFR also laid railway tracks in some areas of Agartala-Sabroom. 

The NFR team would leave the state on Tuesday.
