CPI (M) lashes out at PCC President's activities, Sudip counters

Agartala, Jul 28, 2012 : Tripura CPI (M) has denounced the 'nefarious activities' of Congress, reflected in the opposition party's attempt to revive militancy in Tripura by consistently helping the banned NLFT rebels . The CPI (M) party secretary Bijan Dhar referred to the arrest of erstwhile NLFT rebels, Dhanu Koloi, Bishu Koloi and Ratasri Koloi on May 22 and confessional statements made by them to police regarding their activities and nexus with the Congress to assert that Congress was out to destabilize peace and harmony in Tripura. 'But the people of the state will not put up with such activities and teach Congress another resounding lesson' said Dhar.

He accused the Congress's student outfit NSUI of consistently attempting to destabilize the entire college education system in Tripura. 'The NSUI started disruptive activities at the time of admission to colleges, they caused disturbance in Ramthakur College, BBMC and in Kailasahar College under the leadership of Birajit Sinha himself yesterday' said Dhar in an interaction with the media in the state CPI (M) headquarter. Dhar was particularly critical of the letter addressed by PCC president Sudip Roy Barman to union ministry of human resource development which now stands in the way of recruitment of five thousand primary school teachers. 'The PCC president by his action has proved that his party as well as he himself are opposed to employment of unemployed youths' said Dhar.

He also referred to the alleged incident of assault on an army colonel by the brothers of PCC president Sudip Roy Barman in the latter's residence yesterday. 'An army colonel is a respected officer of the country but the way he was assaulted in cold blood by the PCC president's brothers yesterday proves that they will never change' said Dhar , adding that the claims of Congressmen that they have changed are false . He also referred to activities of Sudip during his days in the Tripura Engineering College (TEC) and predicted disaster for the state and its people in case they achieved power though they would never be able to do so in Tripura.

Meanwhile, PCC president Sudip Roy Barman contradicted the allegations made against his brothers and himself regarding the alleged incident of assault on an Assam Rifles colonel. Citing copies of letters signed by the Colonel and furnished to himself as well as to his brother, he asserted that the Colonel himself had tendered apologies on record regarding yesterday's incident but the CPI (M) is making 'all kinds of wild allegations against me'. 'These allegations are not only baseless but motivated to tarnish my image; the CPI (M) is only exposing itself by its falsehood' said Sudip.
