Fake SC certificate: CPI (M) puts onus on RSP

Agartala, Aug 13, 2012 : The CPI (M) party secretary and central committee member Bijan Dhar has put the onus of taking against Partha Das whose SC certificate was cancelled by the state level monitoring committee on his party the RSP. He said that an officially constituted state level monitoring committee had cancelled Partha Das’s SC certificate and the matter had to be settled by RSP and the MLA. 'RSP is a major constituent of the left front and we cannot dictate to them , they will have to take a call on the issue ; regarding demands for disqualification of Partha Das as an MLA I can only say that the matter will be decided by the speaker , governor and the election commission' said Dhar . He was interacting with the media yesterday in the state CPI (M) headquarter at Melarmath area of Agartala. Replying to queries on Partha Das being originally a CPI (M) man, Dhar said that Das was a member of the 'Scheduled Caste Co-ordination Committee' (SCCC) but never a member of CPI (M). 'We have many people as members in our mass front organisations but all of them are not CPI (M) party members, the scheduled caste co-ordination committee is also a mass front organisation of CPI (M) in which many non-CPI (M) men and women are members; even the leader of the opposition Ratanlal Nath of Congress was once an activist of SFI, our student front organisation, but he was not a member of the CPI (M)' said Dhar, elaborating the point.

He also ruled out the possibility of any backlash among scheduled caste voters over the issue of Partha Das's fake SC certificate in the upcoming assembly polls. 'We have a sold organisational base among the depressed SC voters and people belonging to this category know very well what we have done for them and what we propose to do , so they will never be swayed by any baseless propaganda of Congress over this issue' said Dhar . He also took a dig at the opposition Congress, stating that Congress party remember the SC and other depressed communities only before elections and sleep over their genuine problems and grievances for the rest of the five years.

Regarding the upcoming assembly polls Dhar said that CPI (M) was fully prepared for the election and had also shortlisted possible candidates. 'We are ready to face polls any time but we are not announcing the list of candidates right now because the state government and the election commission have still not taken any decision over the issue; you can rest assured that as soon as the preparation for polls will be officially set in motion we will come out with our list of candidates' said Dhar.

Dhar however expressed concern over the hidden nexus between Congress-INPT combine and the banned NLFT militants. Referring to the recent arrest of surrendered NLFT commander Dhanu Koloi and his two accomplices Bishu Koloi and Ratasri Koloi, Dhar said that in the course of interrogation by police personnel they had made crucial disclosures. 'It is from them that we know about the active involvement of Congress leader Debabrata Koloi in the conspiracy ; they have also disclosed the sources from where they had collected the amount of Rs 25 lakhs for handing over to the NLFT' said Dhar . He added that people of the state and the government were alive to the possibility of NLFT renewing its offensive and would take all measures to prevent any fresh outbreak of violence.
