Agartala, Aug 12, 2012 : A seminar on “Social Justice and Judicial Institutions” and Birchandra Debbarma and Hemchandra Nath memorial lecture was inaugurated by Supreme court Judge, Justice Deepak Mishra here at Sukanta Academy on Saturday evening.
The programme was organized by High Court Bar Association, Agartala Bench of the Gauhati High Court.
Speaking in the seminar, Justice Mishra said Birchandra Debabrma and Hemchandra Nath still remained stalwarts of judicial institutions and social justice.
The present generation lawyers should follow the path then only purposes will be served for organizing such memorial lectures”, said Justice Mishra.
Justice A K Goel, Chief Justice of Gauhati High Court in address said, “Our freedom fighters lived for others and they fought for social justice in the country against the imperialist rule of British”. The Chief Justice further stated social justice in all its forms and to all citizens was regarded as fundamental to the set- up which our founding fathers prescribed for the country.
Justice I. A. Ansari, Judge of Gauhati High Court and other HC judges Justice S. Talapatra, Justice S C Das and Justice U B Saha also delivered their speeches in the seminar.
