NEEPCO proposes joint venture for power in Tripura

Agartala, Aug 25, 2012 : North Eastern electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) expressed eagerness to start power projects in joint venture with the state government in Tripura. PC Pankaj - CMD of the region’s premier power trading corporation, met Power Minister of the state’s ruling Left Front government on Saturday and said that the corporation is interested to start a joint venture for setting up combined cycle unit at Rukhia power plant in Baramura Range. Dey welcomed the approach of NEEPCO. The state government has always supported initiatives from NEEPCO and the support would go unabated, he said.

However, the Power Minister has asked NEEPCO for allowing 50 percent share in generation from upcoming 46 MW combined cycle extension project at RC Nagar. CMD Pankaj has assured that the corporation would consider the issue with utmost importance. The project is expected to get commissioned within March, 2014.

The official also apprised Power Minister Dey about progress of all ongoing projects of NEEPCO in Tripura. He strongly urged the state government for help in the upcoming projects and expressed hopes that the projects would be commissioned on schedule.
