Agartala, Aug , 2012 : A total of 3000 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) were brought to poll bound Tripura from Assam on Friday, which would be used in the ensuing assembly election, scheduled to be held in February 2013 next.
Recently, the officials of the state election department were flown to Guwahati to collect the EVMs. They collected 3000 EVMs from different parts of Assam.
An official in the Electoral department said, to avert any foul play during the transhipment, the EVMs were brought to the state on trucks guarded by armed security personnel.
The official added that as of now the Election Commission has about 1500 EVMs in the state. Even, the number of polling stations will go up this time due to the corresponding rise in the number of voters.
