Computer teachers to continue their fast

Agartala, Aug 21, 2012 : Agitating school computer teachers under the banner of All Tripura School Computer Faculties Association (ATSCFA) decided to continue their fast unto death on the six day of their hunger strike.

Altogether 21 members of ATSCFA including five women started fast unto death after their ultimatum to the state government to fulfill their demands for pay and allowances like state government teachers, introduction of Computer as compulsory subject at high school level, adequate arrangements with two teachers in each school etc.

The agitation entered 6th day on Tuesday and health conditions of several members are now deteriorating. Till today ATSCFA found no response from side of state government or from the department of School Education in support of their demands.

Speaking with media person at agitation venue here at RMS Chowmohani, Sankari Prasad Biswas, general secretary, criticized the role of state government and threatened, ‘till we get written assurance on the part of state government in presence of Constitutional Head of the state and Administrative Head, we will not end our agitation’. 

‘However, a communiqué was sent to us by Principal Secretary of School Education Department on Monday seeking our representation. Accordingly, a four member team- Anamika Das, Kishan Das, Ujjal Paul and Raju Shukla Das met the official at civil secretariat where he urged the ATSCFA members to withdraw the agitation stating that hike of wages of computer teachers are on the cards’, said Biswas.

Biswas alleged that the state government has adopted double standards and harassing them. 

Expressing concern over the health condition of agitating computer teachers, Biswas said out of 21, the condition of seven teachers are deteriorating with loss of weight and blood pressure.
