Maharajkumari Pragya initiates exhibition on Maharaj Bir Bikram

Agartala, Aug 17, 2012 : Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage, (INTACH) is going to organize an exhibition of old photographs, maps, important documents and paintings relating to Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya from August 19, said the organization in an official communiqué on Thursday. Maharajkumari Pragya Deb Burman has been patronizing the organization as convener since its inception in 2006. The organization is also supposed to bring out a commemorative Souvenir on the 104th Birth Anniversary of the late king.

INTACH is already concerned with considerable work in the State leading to heritage protection. It has been involved in heritage conservation and awareness programmes since it’s inception. Some of the earlier programmes organized by the organization include Indigenous Food Fest, Art & Craft Expo by Self-Help Women’s groups, Documentation of Heritage Trees in Agartala, afforestation programme at Dhalai district, Gala Quiz competition - INTACH QUEST, photography exhibition of Tripura’s rich cultural heritage and a jointly organized seminar with CEE, entitled “Heritage Conservation and Environmental Preservation” on 25- 26 July, 2011.

The press communiqué further informed that the exhibition would be inaugurated on August 19 at Chandra Mahal, Palace Compound by Rajmata Maharani Bibhu Kumari Devi of Tripura who would be present as chief guest. Maharaja Manikya Pradyot Kishore Deb Burman and Professor Arunadoy Saha, Vice Chancellor, Tripura University would attend the programme as distinguished guests.
