Tripura identifies 11 casualties from Khliehriat bus accident

Agartala, Aug 10, 2012 : Eleven casualties were identified from Tripura in bus accident near Tamseng under Khliehriat police station in East Jaintia Hills district of Meghalaya in Guwahati-Agartala route, Transport Minister Manik Dey said on Thursday.

According to latest information, nine bodies were started for Tripura from Khliehriat on Thursday. All of them were reported to have entered the state’s territory on the same evening. 

The minister stated that 22 bodies could be identified till latest reports came in; eleven of them were confirmed to be from Tripura. The deceased persons were identified as Uttam Debnath, son of Sunil Debnath, West Gadhigram, Agartala; Rama Kanta Dutta, East Masli, Dhalai district; Biresh Debbarma, Sidhai, West Agartala district; Ananta Saha, South Dhaleshwar, Agartala; Prasenjit Choudhury, Matabari, Udaipur, Gomati district; Bharat Chandra Sil, Khayerpur, West Tripura district; Manoranjan Biswas and Biplab Roy, both from Kalamchoura, Sonamura, West Tripura district; Swapan Nama, Sonamura sub-division; Babul Debnath, Radhananagar, Agartala and Jarubala Ghosh from Belonia, South Tripura district.

The unidentified bodies are currently stationed at Khliehriat hospital morgue, stated Transport Minister Dey adding that the state government has kept its 24 hour helpline functional to extend assistance to bereaved relatives for reaching Meghalaya and identifying the bodies. Meanwhile, thirteen passengers were released from the hospital after primary treatment while one S Debbarma is still under treatment at Shillong Civil Hospital, 11 are under treatment at Silchar Medical College and one Prava Rani Debbarma from Tripura is under treatment at Shillong Woodland Hospital.
