Tripura to submit report on second phase of PMGSY by August

Agartala, Jul 18, 2012 : Tripura is expected to submit around 50 percent of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the new phase of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) by August, said a high official of the Rural Development department here today. State government had raised voice with the centre for allowing PMGSY benefits for habitations having a population of 250 or below instead of the erstwhile formula of 500 population benchmark. While the central government approved the proposal long back, DPR preparation work for construction of rural roads under the new structure was set afoot recently. Around 50 percent of the work is expected to be completed by August. The report is supposed to be submitted to the National Rural Road Development Agency monitored by Ministry for Rural Development by the next month. 

Tripura was allocated a total sanction of 2981 Km road length to be constructed under the scheme with a financial involvement of Rs. 1894 crores till May, 2012. The state government could complete 2274 Km in the stipulated timeframe.
