Conflicting position on Tripura bandh tomorrow

Agartala, Jul 12, 2012 : In order to make the 12-hour Tripura bandh a total success, the youth and student wings of opposition Congress started massive campaign across the state.

Meanwhile, the ruling CPM’s youth wing DYFI and student wing SFI along with other frontal organizations of the left front strongly opposed the bandh called by the NSUI-Youth Congress.

NSUI activists organized campaign in different degree colleges including MBB College in support of the strike to be observed on July 13. The NSUI supporters also intensified their campaign on Thursday in every college of state in support of the bandh called in protest against the alleged Joint Entrance Result scam.

Pradesh Congress on Wednesday supported the bandh called by YC and NSUI.

In a press release, it called upon people to observe the strike to safeguard the interest of students. INPT and its frontal organization Twipra Students’ Federation (TSF) have already supported the bandh.

INPT in statement expressed their concern over the scam in joint entrance results. They also demanded judicial probe into the entire procedure of JEE and appealed to the state government to take appropriate step to punish guilty persons .

The Leftist student-youth organizations on Wednesday hit the streets opposing the Friday’s bandh.

CPM’s state secretariat in a statement said the bandh is politically motivated to confuse people. Terming the decision of NSUI and YC as condemnable. The ruling party supported the decision of the Leftist youth-student organizations.

CPM also criticized the role of Congress for bringing a sub-judice matter to the streets. CPM also appealed to the people of the state to oppose the Bandh.
