AICC seeks help from Tripura for DUSU election

Agartala, Jul 16, 2012 : Tripura has come to face the limelight of attention centering upcoming Delhi University Studens Union (DUSU) election. The last left bastion has been chosen as epicenter of focus for DUSU polls after SFI central committee dismantled the SFI unit committee of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) after it opposed the support of CPI (M) towards Pranab Mukherjee, congress nominated candidate for the presidential elections.

All India Congress Committee general secretary for Tripura Luizinho Faleiro asked Tripura along with few others NE states to play a decisive role in the upcoming Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) election. The election scheduled to be held in September, 2012 is expected to stage a decisive fight between the Congress students brigade and left and saffron student wings.

Tripura was asked for organizing support for DUSU polls at the last moment in 2011-2012. Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress president Sushanta Choudhury managed to arrange around 70 votes of Tripura-based students studying in different institutions under Delhi University. AICC general secretary in-charge of Tripura Luizinho Faleiro has asked Tripura Pradesh Congress president Sudip Roy Barman well in advance this year to arrange for the support. “Our PCC president has been asked by the AICC to organize support and launch campaign among Tripura-based students. We are going to try to arrange support for NSUI candidates in the upcoming DUSU polls”, Pradesh Youth Congress president Choudhury said.
