Alternative medical college proposal in cabinet by next month

Agartala, Jul 17, 2012 : Tripura’s ruling Left Front is likely to raise detailed proposal for setting up Ayurvedic College, homeopathic college and dental college in the cabinet by next month, said Health Minister Tapan Chakraborty here today. Speaking to reporters at the civil secretariat, the minister said that the government has received tremendous response in the Expression of Interest (EOI) called by the department for finalizing private partners in the institutions scheduled to be set in Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The state has already been allotted Rs. 18 crores for setting up ayurvedic and homeopathic college, said Chakraborty.

While a large number of inexperienced private investors were reported to have expressed interest for becoming partners in the alternative medicinal education institutions, JIS Group was known to have been selected for consideration in dental college. A Kolkata-based group was known to have been considered for the Ayurvedic College. However, the government wasn’t satisfied with candidates who expressed interest for the homeopathic college. A separate EOI would be invited for the homeopathic college, said the Health Minister. The department has called all selected prospective entrepreneurs for discussion; the issue is likely to be raised at the cabinet by next month, added he.
