Agartala, Jul 04, 2012 : Nilotpal Das, a sub-junior swimmer of the SAI SAG, Tripura got gold medal from 29th National Swimming Competition held at Rajkot, Gujarat on Tuesday. He achieved the success from 50-metre butterfly in boys category.
He defeated the swimmers of Maharashtra and Karnataka and took 30.98 seconds.The other competitors of the state Rubel Hussain and Ashes Paul were out from hit in 100-metre backstroke and 50-metre freestyle respectively.
Earlier, on Monday last Nilotpal failed to achieve best three positions from 100-metre freestyle in Under-12 boys category placing him fourth.
This success came to the state after five years when Sanjit Reang of Tripura Sports School lifted gold and bronze medals in sub-junior boys category from Chennai National Swimming Competition held on 2007.
Nilotpal is the student of Class-VII of Kabirajtilla High School in Agartala. Shanti Basak, swimming instructor of SAI SAG, Tripura has guided Nilotpal.
