Ratan targets Manik on Rs 2 rice supply

Agartala, 19/07/2012
Opposition leader Ratan Nath today targeted chief minister on the recent decision taken by the state government and announced by Mr Manik Sarkar himself that will pave the way for supply of rice at Rs 2 per KG to the members of the BPL ration card holders. Addressing a press meet at Congress bhvan within 24 hours of another press meet in which he exposed the recruitment scam for recruiting agri assistants, Mr Nath claimed that rice that is being siphoned off from August last year is now being doled out. The chief minister is trying to create divide among the poor as everybody knows that large section of poor outside the BPL category is also there in the state. This is nothing but petty politics, he claimed. The state government opposes the Food Security Bill and is not even providing the food security allowance and hence doubts are bound to be raised in terms of the sudden decision announced by Mr Sarkar. There is ambiguity in terms of several matter like how long will this scheme run, where the siphoned off rice is going, he went on to add. Dr Ashok Sinha and Harekrishna Bhowmik were also present at the press meet.
