Power failure turns NE dark

Agartala, Jul 06, 2012 : A 132 KV power transmission line tripped at Meghalaya causing Tripura, Manipur, Mizoram and Nagaland to suffer 40 minutes of total blackout this evening, said Niladri Sekhar Chakraborty, CMD of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL)Thursday.

The line got tripped due to overloading as far as we were informed, he said.

Average requirement of power across the state remained above 200 MW throughout the day in the face of scorching heat and high humidity. State generation was recorded around 82 MW and 75 MW was imported from outside the state.
