TBJEE asked to set aside three seats by HC

Agartala, Jul 07, 2012 : The Agartala bench of Guwahati High Court today directed the Tripura Joint Entrance Examination (TBJEE) Board to set aside three medical seats and to hold counseling for the remaining seats for admission to medical colleges. The counselling for other students in the merit list will commence from tomorrow for admission to medical and engineering seats under the jurisdiction of the state government.

Baisali Paul, a student of Hindi HS school, had filed writ petition at the HC, alleging that despite having scored 226 in the joint entrance examination she had not figured in the merit list whereas a student who had scored less had been included . She also alleged that her answer script had been changed and challenged the TBJEE to make available to her the officially correct answer sheet.

On Monday, Justice Subhasish Talapatra issued an order directing the TBJEE to set aside three seats for Baisali and two other petitioners and start counseling.

Justice Talapatra also ordered immediate forensic test of the answer sheets of Baisali. The deputy register of the Agartala bench will fly to Guwahati on Saturday and will submit the final test report before Agartala bench on Monday.
