VCI delegation to visit Vet college

Agartala, Jun 23, 2012 : The fate of the only College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry in Tripura will depend on the visit of a delegation of Veterinary Council of India(VCI) in the month of July.

In 2009 the College of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry had been established at R,K,Nagar area on the outskirt of Agartala, but till date, the college and state government authorities have been unable to get the affiliation of VCI due to non-fulfillment of guidelines.

Official sources said, earlier, VCI had fixed its visiting date on June 28 next in Tripura, but the state government had requested VCI to defer their inspection date till July 20.

Sources added that VCI agreed with the state government’s suggestions and decided that its high level inspection team for verifying the college status for affiliation will visit Tripura after July 20 next.

The government establishments are now working round the clock to develop existing infrastructures of veterinary college as per guideline framed by VCI and required recruitment of faculty members.

It may be recalled here that in the opening year of college only 19 students were admitted. But during the last three academic years no student was admitted due to VCI’s non-affiliation.
