BJP organized Jail Bharo movement

Agartala, Jun 22, 2012 : The state unit of BJP organized civil disobedience (jail Bharo movement in Agartala on Friday morning to protest against the increase in prices of daily commodities and petrol products and against alleged ‘misrule’ of Left Front government of Tripura.

Hundreds of BJP workers including state leaders organized a mass rally in various thoroughfares of Agartala on Friday morning and concluded the rally near Joynagar Bus stand, where police obstructed their rally.

Police said that only 71 BJP supporters including 7 women supporters and leaders were arrested during the agitation.

BJP’s state president Sudhindra Dasgupta said that the party organized ‘Jail Bharo Andolan' across the country on June 22 on the issues of inflation and hike in petro prices.

Public awareness programs were organized in different part of the state against the anti-people policies of UPA government in which a huge number of people from every section of society participated, said Dasgupta.

He said the country was passing through difficult times because Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was leading a “corrupt” government and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi was their “protector” .

The UPA government is helping oil mafia and those responsible for rise in prices of essential commodities."

Several key leaders of the party were participated in the agitation in different corners of the state on Friday.

Sujit Banerjee, spokesperson of BJP’s state unit said, the party also demand for CBI enquiry on the recent arrest of surrendered NLFT militants with huge cash.
