Agartala, Jun 04, 2012 : Cyclonic storm destroyed four villages of north Kalamcherra Gram Panchayat under Sonamura subdivision in the wee hours of Sunday.
Official sources said, around 123 households including 48 households under Bazartilla, jumertilla, Chatiayanitilla and Baramura villagers were completely destroyed. There are no report of casualty and serious injuries.
There are reports of heavy damages to crops and destruction of electric lines and tele-communication line due to storm. Heavy trees including rubber trees and poles were pulled out of the earth.
However, Minister of sports and youth affairs Sahid Chaudhury along with senior officials visited the cyclonic affected areas on Sunday and declared immediate relief of Rs 2000 to severely affected, Rs 1000 and Rs 500 to partially affected people. The minister also directed the concerned authority to access the actual damage. Congress leader Billal Mia also visited the area.
