Stage set for by-poll, campaign ends

Agartala, Jun 11, 2012 : Stage is all set for the by-election of Nalchhar assembly constituency of Tripura tomorrow. The campaign for the by-election ended on Sunday at 4 PM.

Entire assembly segment of Nalchhar has been divided in four civil sectors and four police sectors to be headed by police inspectors. A total of six companies of BSF personnel were deployed to ensure security in all the polling booths for peaceful conduct of election. The adjoining Indo-Bangla border was also sealed and massive deployment of police and TSR personnel were made to maintain the law and order situation.

Besides, four election observers were deputed to supervise the election process.

Ashutosh Jindal ,Chief Electoral Officer(CEO), Tripura said as per the directives of the Election Commission BSF personnel were deployed in all the 38 polling stations of Nalchhar constituency and the state police and state paramilitary Tripura State Rifles (TSR) would be deployed outside the polling stations for maintenance of general law and order.

The counting of polled votes would begin on June 15 with the entire process to be completed by June 18. 

Altogether 33,392 voters will cast their vote in the by-election, among the voters 17,542 are male and 15,850 are female.

A total of 215 polling staff have already been appointed for smooth conduct of polling process.

At the last stage of campaign, both CPM and Congress on Sunday took out rallies, door to door campaign at different places to attract the voters. 

Both the parties have left no stone unturned for wooing the voters in their favour.
