CPM state secretary lashes out at Congress

Agartala, Jun 11, 2012 : CPM party secretary alleged that opposition Congress and its leaders were misleading and harassing police and election commission’s observers by giving false information.

Addressing a press conference, CPM’s state secretary Bijan Dhar here on Monday said, Congress leaders misleading police personnel by given false information on alleged disturbances in Nalchhar constituency, but when police and EC personnel rushed to the spot they find nothing.

“Such attempts are being repeating again and again by Congress supporters to create tension”, said Dhar.

He said, several Congress leaders including opposition leader Ratanlal Nath, MLA Subal Bhowmik were camped and moving in Nalchhar with anti-social elements to disturb the poll process.

Dhar, expressed the fear that the 'groups of anti-social elements assembled by Congress' may create trouble tomorrow during polls. 'We hope the election commission and security forces will ensure a free and fair election tomorrow' said Dhar.

However, despite security measures mounting tension has been reported from different parts of the constituency amidst allegations and counter-allegations being made by both the rival CPI (M) and Congress. On June 9 Pradesh Congress had alleged that a sand-carrying truck had deliberately hit the private car in which PCC president Sudip Roy Barman, Youth Congress president Sushanta Chowdhury and NSUI president Vicky Prasad had been travelling in order to murder them.

Bijan Dhar also describing the so-called ‘charge-sheet' released by Congress in the form of a booklet as a 'dustbin of falsehood'. Condemning the 'campaign of lies and calumny' of Congress Dhar said that instead of carrying on the 'false' campaign against the CPI (M) the leaders of Pradesh Congress should 'see their own images in the mirror'. He asserted that the CPI (M) will retain the Nalchhar constituency in the by-election by an increased margin.
