LF victory rally: CM calls for peace, development

Agartala, Mar 07, 2013 : The 93.47 percent turnout in the February 14 assembly elections in Tripura is a history for peace loving people of the state, said Chief Minister Manik Sarkar addressing the massive central election victory rally of the Left Front here at Astabal ground on Thursday.

After swearing-in-ceremony, the council of ministers including Chief Minister, top leaders of Left Front including CPI (M) general secretary Prakash Karat attended the central victory rally.

Speaking in the rally, Sarkar said that the maximum participation of women in the voting in Tripura reflect their faith on democracy, peace and stability of the Left Front government.

‘The massive mandate towards the LF to form the 7th LF government-is the victory of the general people of the state’, said Sarkar.

The LF and government assure that all the commitments of LF manifesto will be fulfilled in coming days, said Sarkar adding that like previous years the people of the state would extend the cooperation towards development and peace of the state.

“There is no wall between government and people of the state, if there are any weaknesses and deficiency of the government, you have every right to make us aware”, said Sarkar.

He appealed to all section of the leaders to listen the grievances of the people passionately and solve their problems compassionately.

‘There are still several hideouts of the underground militants of the state in Bangladesh, my special request to them to leave path of violence and join in the mainstream for peace and development of the state’, said Chief Minister.

He assured that government and people of the state will provide all logistic support towards their rehabilitations-if they shun the path of violence.

He also added that if the rebels do not shun the path of violence, then government will act strongly as per law.

The Congress and BJP never can be alternative of LF, the people of Tripura have given us massive responsibility and the government will act to fulfill their demands, said Sarkar adding that the formation of 7th LF government is a greatest instance of their faith on left parties.

Referring to some stray incidents of post-poll violence, Sarkar termed that despite some conspiracy-the violence is unexpected. 

People voted us for peace and we have to maintain the peace, said Sarkar adding that win and defeat in elections is part and parcel of democracy.

He warned and appealed to all section of society to stop violence, or law will take its own course.

A large section of people did not cast their votes in favour of us, they are not our enemy, we have to fulfill their demands expectations also and strengthen our party bases, said Sarkar.

Earlier, in the rally CPI (M) general secretary Prakash Karat addressing the gathering said, Tripura is now a great instance in the country.

The political consciousness of Tripura people reflected in the 52 percent vote sharing by Left Front candidates, said Karat adding that people of Tripura gave a suitable answer to opposition Congress and their leader Rahul Gandhi.
