First session of 11th assembly to start on March 15

Agartala, Mar 06, 2013 : The new cabinet of 7th Left Front government in Tripura took oath-of-office on Wednesday at the Raj Bhawan. The 12 member cabinet headed by Chief Minister Manik Sarkar received a warm welcome by the Tripura Employees Coordination Committee (HGB Road) back at the civil secretariat later this afternoon following which the members of cabinet headed in for the first cabinet meeting of the new government. Speaking to reporters later this evening, current Law Minister Tapan Chakraborty said that the cabinet has decided to hold the first session of 11th legislative assembly from March 15. Though the exact number of working days of the session was not divulged by the minister, a highly placed source said later today that the session would continue for around three days. 

The assembly session would be preceded by a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) which is scheduled to resolve on the number of working days of the assembly this time. The first day of upcoming assembly session is scheduled to have the speech of Governor Dr. DY Patil, vote on account etc.

The cabinet meeting on Wednesday also nominated MLA Niranjan Debbarma as the pro tem speaker while MLA and former Information and Cultural Affairs minister Anil Sarkar was unanimously accepted as the Vice Chairman of State Planning Board. The pro tem speaker is scheduled to swear in at 10 AM on Thursday at the Raj Bhawan. Swear-in-ceremony of all members of the 11th state legislative assembly is scheduled to be held on March 08 and 09, a source said.
