Left leaders met Governor, Manik Sarkar elected as leader

Agartala, Mar 04, 2013 : Newly elected Left Front members of Tripura legislative assembly met here at CPI (M)’s state headquarters in Agartala on Monday and formally elected Manik Sarkar as their legislature party leader.

This is for the fourth time Manik Sarkar has been chosen as the leader of LF legislature for forming the 7th Left Front government in Tripura.

Soon after the meeting of LF legislatures, CPI (M) state committee secretary Bijan Dhar and Left Front convener Khagen Das met Governor Dr D Y Patil here at Raj Bhavan and handed over to him LF candidates list for formation of 7th left Front government in Tripura. 

Official sources said, LF legislature’s leader Manik Sarkar will meet Governor Dr D Y Patil on Monday afternoon and will discuss about the swearing-in-ceremony of his cabinet on March 6 next.

In the sixty members Tripura legislative assembly, Left Front got 50 seats and opposition Congress got only 10 seats.

Among the sixty members, 10 MLAs elected are ‘new comer’ in the assembly. They are CPI(M) candidates Ratan Das from 7-Ramnagar constituency, Rajkumar Choudhury from 18-Suryamaninagar, Ramendra Debbarma from 19-Charilam segment, Shyamal Chakraborty from 22-Sonamura, Ratan Bhowmik from 33-Kakraban-Shalgara constituency, Priyamani Debbarma from 43-Karbook, Lalit Debbarma from 47-Ambassa, Samiran Malakar from 50-Pabiyacherra, Tunu Malakar from 51-Fatikraoy constituency and opposition Congress has also one first time MLA, Pranajit Singharoy from 31-Radhakishorepur constituency.
