Tripura to kick off Ranji campaign against Assam

Agartala, Sep 04, 2012 : Tripura would start the next Ranji season with a four-day match against Assam in Guwahati from November 2 to 5, according to the official calendar of domestic cricket released by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The team placed in group C with eight other teams for the league round would play against Andhra Pradesh in Anantapur from November 9 to 12, against Services Sports Control Board(SSCB) in Agartala from Nov 17 to 20, against Himachal Pradesh in Dharamshala from December 01 to 04, against Jharkhand in Agartala from December 08 to 11, against Kerala in Agartala from December 15 to 18, against Goa in Agartala from December 22 to 25 and against Jammu & Kashmir in Jammu from December 29 to January 01.

This year former Ranji cricketer of Delhi and batting coach of National Cricket Academy, Bangalore Krishnan Bhaskar Pillai is selected to coach Tripura state team while former Bengal spinner Utpal Chatterjee and former Tripura pacer Vineet Jain is given charge for bowling department. Former Karnataka Ranji cricketer Rajesh Kamath is looking the fielding department of the state team.

Last year Tripura lost to Andhra Pradesh, SSCB, Kerala and Himachal Pradesh and got zero from four matches. Altogether Tripura earned one point from five matches and that point came from the drawn match against Vidarbha.
